The HTC Magic, the handset maker's second phone based on Google's Android platform, has received FCC approval. However, the phone does not support the 1700 MHz AWS band, which is where T-Mobile USA is deploying its UMTS network.

The news debunks rumors circulated last week that the phone was destined for T-Mobile USA. Google showed the phone with a T-Mobile logo while it demonstrated its Gmail email client. 

The HSPA/WCDMA phone features a 3.2-inch touchscreen with a full virtual QWERTY keyboard. The phone has a trackball, WiFi and features all of the Google mobile applications.

HTC has said the phone would be available through Vodafone beginning in March, but pricing and availability details have not been released. The phone will be released first exclusively in the U.K., Spain, Germany and France and non-exclusively in Italy. The company has made no announcements about if, or when, the phone will come to North America.
