Huawei beats Ericsson in base stations

The economy may be sour but it's not hindering wireless base station sales. According to EJL Wireless Research, the global base station market grew by 27.8 percent in 2008, outpacing the firm's projections. Leading the way was Huawei, which was the No. 1 base station supplier globally. Ericsson was the largest GSM supplier and Nokia Siemens Networks was the leader in W-CDMA. The firm expects LTE base station shipments to begin in 2009 and become the largest segment of the market by 2013. Release
