Huawei's smartphone sales surge 39% in first half of 2015

Chinese equipment maker Huawei sold 48.2 million smartphones in the first half of the year, which was a 39 percent increase over 2014. The company also said that its mid- to high-end smartphone sales increased 70 percent.

Overall revenue from handsets jumped 87 percent to $7.23 billion in the first half of the year, Huawei said.

Interestingly, Chinese smartphone sales overall contracted in the first quarter of the year, according to IDC. This was that country's first smartphone decline since 2008. Article
