i-mate U.S. goes bust?

According to a report over at Engadget, the Dubai-based i-mate's U.S. division has gone belly-up, which should be no shock: the company said it was up for sale last month. Last week the company laid off the entire engineering, quality assurance and tech writing departments and some of the executives left in protest. U.S. carriers seemed reticent to carry the company's Windows Mobile-powered Ultimate line of handsets, which were slow to launch. The devices will be sold online and unlocked for the U.S. market.
