Icahn ups bid in Motorola

Activist investor Carl Icahn has increased his stake in Motorola, making him the third largest investor in the handset maker. Icahn and his funds owned about 2.8 percent of the company or 64.9 million shares at the end of June. At the end of September, however, Icahn owned 3.3 percent of the company, or 75.6 million shares. Earlier in the year Icahn was calling for Motorola CEO Ed Zander's ouster, while the activist investor sought a seat on the company's board.
