ITC upholds ruling favoring Nokia in Qualcomm suit

The International Trade Commission (ITC) has upheld a previous ruling that favored Nokia in a patent infringement lawsuit that Qualcomm brought against the Finnish company. An ITC administrative law judge ruled last December that Nokia did not infringe on three patents related to 2G products and that one of the three patents in question was actually invalid. Qualcomm brought the suit against Nokia in June of 2006. The patent spat between Nokia and Qualcomm has heightened in the past year when a 2001 licensing agreement between the companies expired last April.
