Kineto to support UMTS

Kineto announced today their UMA client software now supports 3G/UMTS. "With the introduction of our 3G capable client, we are satisfying a clear market demand and addressing a common misconception by showing that UMA supports 3G/2.5G dual-mode devices," said Mark Powell, vice president and founder of Kineto Wireless. The new client will allow handsets to roam seamlessly between cellular networks (either 3G/UMTS or 2.5G/GSM/GPRS/EDGE) and WiFi access points, when they become available. Kineto's client technology is currently licensed by Samsung, LG Electronics, and the SIM Technology Group and last month, the UMTS Forum projected global 3G/UMTS subscriptions will reach 100 million by the fourth quarter.
