Moto expands chipset deal with TI

Tools

Motorola and Texas Instruments (TI) have expanded their strategic relationship to include 3G, WiMAX and OMAP technologies in the design of Motorola's mobile devices. Motorola is developing 3G handsets based on TI's 3G solution, including processors from TI's OMAP 3 architecture. The handsets should see a commercial launch come early 2008. TI has also pledged to support Motorola's mobile WiMAX initiative with a 65nm chipset that will support voice, video and data for low-power mobile applications on handsets that Motorola plans to launch next year.
