Motorola to acquire Leapstone

Tools

Handset maker Motorola announced a definitive merger agreement to acquire privately-held communications software developer Leapstone Systems. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Leapstone's unified platform promises rapid creation, management and delivery of converged video, voice and data service bundles spanning multiple networks and devices--its flagship Communications Convergence Engine real-time service delivery platform targets mobile and fixed network operators via Service Broker and Content Manager software products. Leapstone customers include AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

Motorola said the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2007. "Leapstone will contribute its leading intelligent service delivery and content management platform to Motorola, which will serve as our new engine for enabling seamless mobility experiences across applications, devices and domains," said Motorola Home & Networks Mobility president Dan Moloney in a prepared statement.
