Motorola Droid specs leak ahead of Verizon event
In what is either an internal foul-up at Motorola or a clever marketing ploy, the full specs for the Motorola Droid device, Verizon Wireless' highly anticipated Android phone, were leaked, briefly onto Motorola's website. The leak comes days ahead of an invitation-only event where Verizon presumably will unveil the Droid.
Some new details about the smartphone emerged from the leaked specs. On a promotional website, Verizon touted some of the features of the phone, including "5 megapixels," "Android 2.0," "video," "mulitasking" and "notification panel."
According to the specs, the Droid will have a CDMA EV-DO Rev. A connection, a 3.7-inch WVGA display, a 550 MHz processor, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g WiFi and a pre-installed 16GB microSD card. The phone also will have GPS, a micro USB connection, and the phone's 5-megapixel camera will have 4x digital zoom, auto-focus and dual-LED flash.
Meanwhile, Verizon has sent invitations to a Droid-themed event on Oct. 28, in which the operator plans to unleash the "must-have device of the year." Verizon's clear message: the ball's in your court, iPhone.

The Android is the Flavor of the Week, just like the Palm Pre and all the other "iPhone kilers" before it. A certain portion of the population will buy Androids, but Apple once again has set a new standard that has all other companies are scrambling to emmulate. Enjoy your moment in the sun, Android, because, as usual, Apple's Next Big Thing is just around the corner. And it will have features you have not even dreamed about yet.
A clever marketing ploy from Motorola? Mmmm... How much money did MOT geniuses at devices lose in last few years...$2 billion, $3 billion, $4 billion? And still counting.
A clever ploy from Verizon? It looks like Verizon's Droid story is about being sore at iPhone because some of VZW's customers churned to AT&T to get iPhones. The Droid ad smacks more of frustrated revenge.
By the way, I don't use iPhone.
"Frustrated revenge"? Yeah, just like those smarmy Windows-bashing ads from Apple. 2 can play that game.
Some people still don't get it, its not about which phone reigns supreme, but on how a gadget can help an individual on his/her daily lifestyle.

Thousands of Humans has been clamoring this Droid - you got to give credit to engadget to one of the few people (aside from BGR) who laid their hands on the new droid. I don't think its ugly, but not the best looking phone too.. But take a peek at the specs, I mean does it still look ugly now? - I can't stress how much fast is the android 2.0 and how its (almost perfect) to the new droid models.

Hey dorks, they are just phones. It's hilarious reading how butt-hurt you little girls get when someone disrespects your favorite label. Keep it up though because it gives most people something to laugh at.
Droid sounds too much like "roid", get off your
rear end.
