Motorola to embed Yahoo in phones

Motorola made a deal with Yahoo to embed Yahoo mobile services into millions of its phones. Motorola has agreed to host Yahoo's Go for Mobile applications on its mid- and high-range handsets. Similar to Microsoft's range of "Live" products, the Go applications include Yahoo email, search and address book functionality. Yahoo secured a similar deal with Nokia earlier this year. And it looks like Yahoo desperately needs these deals. Yahoo's profits fell nearly 14 percent after the company projected slower-than-expected growth for for 2006 and announced that an upgrade to its search engine advertising system would be delayed. What kind of deals will we see Google, Microsoft and AOL making with with handset players? And you have to wonder if operators, who have financial reasons for working with players on their own, are happy with these arrangements.
