Nokia gets a win in one Qualcomm patent battle

Tools

In a tentative decision, an administrative law judge ruled that Nokia's GSM/GPRS/EDGE handsets do not infringe on three of Qualcomm's patents. The case is just one of 11 ongoing disputes between Qualcomm and the handset maker after licensing talks between the companies broke off earlier this year. The ITC is set to make a final determination by April 14, 2008. Qualcomm said the tentative decision is not concerning the most important of the disputed technology licenses: the ones for WCDMA.
