Nokia: no LTE device in the works for Verizon--yet

Nokia said it has not entered into an exclusive deal with Verizon Wireless to produce a high-end touchscreen handset for Verizon's Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

The handset maker contacted the blog Engadget and said, "While we have not entered into any exclusive agreement for 4G touch screen device development as is being reported, we will continue to follow and pursue developments as a normal course of business." It was first reported earlier this week in an article in TheStreet that the companies were working together on such a device.

Additionally, Nokia denied that it was completely abandoning WiMAX as a 4G technology. The Finnish giant said that its decision to end production of the N810 WiMAX tablet "does not apply to other WiMAX business development efforts that Nokia is involved in." In other words, the company is happy to be making devices for both.
