NPD: Sprint's average monthly Android data traffic grows over 1 GB

Android smartphone users on Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) have been steadily increasing their average monthly data usage since September, according to new statistics from NPD Connected Intelligence. The data shows that average Android smartphone users on Sprint's network increased their monthly data usage from 0.68 GB in September, to 0.76 GB in October, to 0.86 GB in November and to 1.09 GB in December, the last month for which data is available. Sprint continues to advertise its unlimited data service in an effort to cut into sales at AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) and Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ), which both meter data usage. Sprint's data figures are just one key finding from NPD's recent report. FierceWireless teamed with NPD Connected Intelligence to publish the results of the firm's SmartMeter surveying software. NPD's SmartMeter software is installed on around 1,500 smartphones and it allows NPD to track users' cellular data usage. Click here for the full Special Report
