Qualcomm: Nokia deal renewal "unlikely"

The saga continues: Qualcomm has issued a statement reiterating that the renewal of its licensing agreement with Nokia is probably unlikely prior to the expiration date of the old agreement in April. Two weeks ago, the company said it was making little progress in talks with Nokia. Since then, Qualcomm also said that it would supply Nokia rival Motorola with chips for phones based on UMTS. The remarks, made by Qualcomm president Steve Altman, also reiterated that Nokia is its largest licensee.
