Qualcomm to sell FLO directly to consumers

Qualcomm is planning to sell its FLO TV service directly to consumers later this year, according to Telephony magazine. The company, which will soon be able to expand its FLO TV footprint beyond its current markets thanks to the digital TV transition deadline that expires June 12, has been selling its service wholesale through AT&T and Verizon. However, FLO TV president Bill Stone says he plans to augment that strategy with a direct-to-consumer offering. Stone said FLO TV will initially target two areas--automotive in-car entertainment systems and stand-alone FLO receivers. Article
