Report: LTE subs will climb to 305M by 2016

Tools

There will be around 305 million LTE subscribers worldwide by 2016, according to a new forecast from research firm Maravedis. The report said 86 percent of those subscribers will be on FDD-LTE networks and 14 percent will reside on TDD-LTE systems. For now, though, WiMAX still far outpaces LTE in terms of subscribers. Maravedis said there were 17.25 million WiMAX subscribers worldwide and 320,000 LTE customers worldwide at the end of March. The research firm predicts there will be 5.5 million total new WiMAX subscriber additions this year. Article
