Report: Microsoft might bring Android apps to Windows

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has seen strong developer momentum for its Windows Phone platform of late, with the platform now supporting more than 200,000 apps, including Instagram, Vine and Pandora. However, there are continued rumors that Nokia (NYSE:NOK) is going to soon release a phone running a forked version of Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android platform, and Windows Phone's global market share is still in the single digits. Now, unnamed sources familiar with Microsoft's plans tell The Verge that Microsoft is "seriously considering" allowing Android apps to run on both Windows and Windows Phone. While some inside Microsoft are thinking of merely enabling Android apps inside its Windows and Windows Phone Stores, others think such a move could lead to the death of the Windows platform entirely.
