Report: Mobile backhaul equipment market taking off
The growth in mobile data usage is likely to continue, and that will be a windfall for mobile backhaul equipment makers, according to a new report by Infonetics Research. According to the firm, mobile backhaul equipment investments rose 19 percent in 2008 to $4.6 billion worldwide--despite the recession. Revenue is set to increase substantially over the next five years. The transition from TDM to IP/Ethernet backhaul networks will continue, and likely will be a goldmine for equipment makers as carriers try and handle the increased data traffic on their networks.
