Report: Mobile malware increased 46% in 2010

In its quarterly threat report, security firm McAfee found a significant rise in threats from mobile malware. The company said that mobile malware increased 46 percent in 2010 compared with 2009. Overall, the company said it uncovered 20 million new pieces of malware in 2010, equating to 55,000 new malware threats every day. McAfee also said that one of the most interesting mobile threats was SymbOS/Zitmo.A, which struck early in the fourth quarter. In that case, creators of the Zeus botnet repurposed an old version of a commercial spyware package. Release
