Report: U.S. backhaul capacity expected to grow dramatically

Tools

To meet the increasing demand for mobile data, backhaul capacity is expected to grow significantly over the next several years, according to a new report from Visant Strategies. Fiber may not be the only solution that carriers turn to for backhaul, more and more wireless backhaul likely will come into play. The report said that the number of base stations with more than 24 Mbps of backhaul capacity will grow more than 20 times from 2009 to 2015. In 2015, the number of base stations with less than 12 Mbps of backhaul capacity will be half of what it is now. Article, release
