RIM roundup: Bold out Nov. 4, Storm reportedly Nov. 16

Tools

The BlackBerries are ripe and ready for release.

AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega confirmed on the AT&T third quarter earnings conference call this morning that the carrier would be releasing Research In Motion's BlackBerry Bold on Nov. 4. Speculation had swirled around a possible Oct. 27 launch date, but de le Vega said that would be pushed back by a week. The phone will be sold for $299.99 with a two-year contract and after a mail-in rebate.

The long awaited Bold has been the subject of numerous delays and false starts. The phone was supposed to launch in the summer, and then was pushed back to the fall and then was further delayed because RIM reportedly wanted to make sure the phone worked properly on AT&T's 3G HSPA network.

In other BlackBerry news, the blog Berry Reporter posted a Best Buy screenshot that has the Storm, which is being launched by Verizon Wireless, ready for a launch date of Nov. 16 with a list price of $699.99, before it is subsidized. Verizon has not confirmed when it will release the Storm.

I can't believe you posted that the phone will be $699 with a straight face.

I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Montana if you believe that!

$700 for the Storm?! How do they intend to compete with the iPhone if they are going to charge $700? Is that with or without a new plan/plan renewal?

It says "before it is subsidized". It might be substantially less with a contract.

my guess is that this is list price as stated above. Rebates will bring it in line as other Blackberry devices list at $599.99

That's unbelievable. I will piss on that thing. $700, are you kidding. Even if they subsidize I don't see it going below $400 or something like that.
You can go to hell, Verizon.

you people are stupid

The article poster added "before it was subsidized" after I commented that the price would not be $699.

Yes, thank you for helping us make the story more accurate. We appreciate the feedback!

you are soo funny! I was pretty upset too when I read what the list price was for the BB Storm. I will not pay that much for it. No way!
