Rumor Mill: BlackBerry Storm 2 slated for June

Research In Motion's BlackBerry Storm 2 is going to be launched by Verizon Wireless in June, according to a rumor on the website BlackBerryOS.com. The post said that in the past two weeks Verizon has started training its technical support on the phone, and that it would launch sometime before the end of June.

Separately, the blog Engadget posted photos and a video of what may be the new RIM device.

RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie earlier this month revealed during the company's Capital Markets Day that RIM is working on a new Storm model. One of RIM's goals, he said, is to try and break further into the consumer market for smartphones.

If the phone is launched in June, it would make for a busy time for the cell phone industry. Sprint Nextel is launching the Palm Pre June 6, a day before Apple may unveil a new iPhone model.
