Rumor Mill: G1 Android phones start shipping ahead of schedule

Tools

T-Mobile USA may be getting a little bit ahead of itself.

The official launch date for T-Mobile's G1, the first phone powered by Google's Android OS, is supposed to be Oct. 22. Word is now filtering around a few Android blogs that some of the phones are already shipped, which coupled with UPS's three-day shipping, means that some of the handsets could find their way into mailboxes as early as this Friday, Oct. 17.

Where are they shipping from? I didn't get any notification, but went to the ups site, put in my phone number in the reference, and it came up with a tracking number. They've just received the billing information, and the phone hasn't shipped yet.
