Rumor Mill: Is the G2 coming soon?

Tools

There may be a new Android device out on the market in the next few months, called the T-Mobile G2, according to rumors circulating in several blogs.

The rumor first started on the website Cell Phone Signal, which said there would be a new Android-based device called the G2 out at the end of January. The spec sheet sourced in this report said the phone would have a full touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera and be WiFi capable.

The blog Boy Genius Report followed up with another rumor saying that most of the original specs cited in Cell Phone Signal were correct but that the phone would not have a physical QWERTY keyboard. Instead, it will have a trackball. Boy Genius also said the phone would be out in April and that the phone will launch on another global carrier besides T-Mobile USA.

HTC, which manufactures the G1, the only phone in North America running on Google's Android software, has indicated that it expects continued success with the phone. In late November, HTC increased its forecast for how many it expected to ship in 2008 to 1 million up from a previous estimate of 600,000.

So it's the same thing with a better camera and no keyboard? My G1 already has a trackball and WiFi, I don't see how this is and improvement at all. Seriously, why drop the keyboard? It was one of the best parts about the phone!

Look. The g1 is a great fone. But there r some features that I'm a custom to haven that the g1 don't have. Ok a better camera is good. But what about the fact the that it don't play gif files, or play videos only on you tube. What I get funny txt msg, I want to see more than a still pic. Or the fact that when I do get a pic msg, I can't save the pic on my sd card. If the g2 improve 2 those standards, they will have another customer at full price! Lol I will miss the key board. I think it was great cause its not touch so whatever letter I hit will be what I wanted.

the new G2?? Please... I work for a t-mobile store and there has been no talk of this "G2". For those of you that think this is true, your wrong...
