SE gives a glimpse of Idou "concept" device

Beleaguered handset maker Sony Ericsson tried to incite some excitement in Barcelona Sunday evening by giving the Mobile World Congress press a glimpse at a new "concept" phone called Idou (pronounced I do) that the company says will be available in the second half of 2009. 

Idou, which is just a working name, features a touchscreen user interface, a 3.5-inch screen and  a 12-megapixel camera. The quad-band phone will run on the Symbian Foundation OS. Other specifics about the device are sketchy at this time. The phone is expected to launch this summer. For pictures of the Sony Ericsson press event at MWC, click here.

Sony Ericsson executives said that the company has a new strategy and is focusing on innovation. Specifically, the company plans to introduce new unique services that drive revenue and strengthen its brand through better brand positioning.  Although Sony Ericsson has said that it was developing an Android-based device, company executives would not say when they would have an Android device commercially available.
