Sony Ericsson CEO admits "weak" U.S. presence

Sony Ericsson's new CEO Hideki "Dick" Komiyama admitted to the Wall Street Journal that the handset maker's position in the U.S. is weak and that he intends to step up efforts here. 

Komiyama, who previously was chairman of Sony Electronics and joined Sony Ericsson in November, said that he plans to strengthen the company's relationships with North American operators and increase distribution, supply chain and marketing. He also says Sony Ericsson will increase its portfolio of phones by adding more high-speed phones and clamshell-shaped devices, both of which appeal to the North American subscriber.
