Sony Ericsson's ASP falls to $245

Sony Ericsson posted a 10 percent net income drop for its third quarter, however, the handset maker saw devices shipped rise 31 percent because of its push into emerging markets. Net income came in at $377.72 million. Mobile handset shipments grew to 25.9 million in the quarter, up from 19.8 million a year earlier. Sony Ericsson has ramped up its presence in India and Latin America during the past year. Revenue rose 6.7 percent during the quarter to $6.35 billion from $5.94 billion, but missed analysts' predictions for sales and volumes. Average selling prices for Sony Ericsson also fell from $300 per to $245, mostly because of its increased sales in emerging markets.
