Sprint board member resigns

Sprint Nextel announced that board member William E. Kennard has resigned from his post effective March 1. Kennard served on the Sprint Nextel board since 2005 when Sprint bought Nextel Communications. He previously served on the Nextel board beginning in 2001 and is a managing director of the global telecom and media group at the Carlyle Group. Sprint has already begun the search to fill the seat. The resignation looks like more fallout from the company's difficulty in merging Nextel.
