Sprint hit with another class-action lawsuit

Sprint Nextel has been hit with another class-action lawsuit, this time in a far-reaching suit that claims the wireless carrier misrepresented the company's health to investors following its 2005 merger with Nextel.

The law firm of Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins said in a release that it filed a class-action lawsuit against Sprint in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. The suit is seeking out plaintiffs and is pursuing class-action status for investors who purchased Sprint stock from Oct. 26, 2006 to Feb. 27, 2008.

The complaint alleges that Sprint directors and executives issued materially false and misleading statements regarding Sprint's financial results and the health of the company's business, and that as a result "Sprint stock traded at artificially inflated prices."

Sprint spokesman Matt Sullivan said that the company was aware of the suit. "We're aware of the press release and we're confident that Sprint has, and will continue to operate in complete adherence with all federal securities laws," he told FierceWireless.  

The carrier has faced many difficulties since its 2005 merger with Nextel. These include long-running litigation with affiliate iPCS over exclusivity agreements iPCS holds in territory where's Nextel's iDEN network operates, customer service issues (which the carrier has said have improved dramatically) and a declining subscriber base.

Sprint lost 5.1 million subscribers in 2008, and wireless revenue fell by $3.1 billion, or 32 percent, as compared to 2007. When the carrier reported its fourth quarter earnings Feb. 19, revenue fell to $35.64 billion, down 11.2 percent from revenue of $40.15 billion in the year-ago quarter.

Apparently i need to join a class action law suit against Sprint also. I have tried going to FCC for help and gotten no place. Where is there one going on and how can we join it. They keep charging us for phones we have not had for months and it keeps adding up.

THE OKLAHOMA CITY CALL CENTER HAVE FIRED OVER CLOSE TO OR OVER 300 EMPLOYEES & REFUSED TO PAY PAY THEM & GIVE THE PROPER TRAINING THESE NEED!!!THESE PEOPLE ARE PISSED AND SCARED TO SPEAK UP AND THE ONES THAT SPOKE OR HAVE BEEN THEIR TOO LONG AND HAVE RECOGNIZED THE B.S. I am so pissed with Sprint. Sprint is charging ridiculous charges that have caused my bills to soar beyond $400.00 a month. When we call they will eventually offer you some credit, but if they change your plan they secretly lock you into another 2-year contract. I think there should definitely be a stop to the hidden charges that Sprint is charging. What can we do? Who can we contact for help?

Sprint is all about screwing everyone. I worked for them and was forced to watch xrated videos by my sup at a call center. Took the issue all the way to Dan Hesse himself. Everyone who complained about this sup has been fired while his ass is still there. How many suits can they survive before they go down.

I would like to say that corporate bullying actually undermines the health of a workforce. It's an attack on our public health. Companies intentionally inflict emotional distress to an employee which is designed to disrupt the performance of that employee. These disruptions of performance are then levied against the employee from negative performance reviews, corrective actions, and even fabricated events and coaching sessions to substantiate the legitimacy of the scrutiny. Often times, these attacks actually cause the very disruptions in performance the employees are reprimanded for. How can we allow this in our current economic crisis. When a company actively causes churn for some unknown gain, shouldn't we be asking why? Especially when the majority of employees churned this way end up approved on unemployment contributing to the crisis. This should be UNacceptable in the state of Oklahoma. So, this is violating all of our civil & human rights; Blacks, White, Hispanics, Asian, native Americans, etc… Young, old, all religions. We are feeling the pain or have felt it one way or another. We should be picketing Sprint, sending letter to Obama, writing the congress and media. I have written in already and spoken to hundreds of lawyers and they cannot or will not help me. Check in your state to see if you have A “RIGHT TO WORK” or “At WILL”
law in your area. Sprint wants to beat AT&T in customers service, because they suck and treat their former or current employees BAD! OKLAHOMA AND Topeka Kansas TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES BAD! Please people, don’t believe the hype. We have sprint employers writing on this blog! What I say is the TRUTH and Sprint is a LIE!!!!

I am interested in any class actions against Sprint. I have been trying to cancel my service for months. Their rule is you have to call within a few weeks of the end of the contract to stop the contract from continuing. I called several times prior to their arbitrary short window of opportunity. They told me that they could not note that I wanted it cancelled until their defined period. My husband was hospitalized and near death during their required period and I did not call, so naturally they are continuing to bill me. I called this morning to contest this practice and got into a shouting match with one of the "supervisors." He would not let me speak to HIS supervisor! I would not pay these bills but the brilliant people at Sprint set the account up in my minor daughter's name and I do not want her credit score to be affected by this. (I tried countless times over the three year contract to change the account name to mine, but apparently that was too complex for these thugs.) Anyway, they are insisting i pay for the period of time they automatically extended the contract! I find these practices and the attitudes of the employees of this company to be unbelievable. I was only asking for the month and one half of billing to be reversed. I am not trying for a hostile takeover. I feel my only recourse is in the courts. Has anyone else dealt with this siituation? Is anyone involved in a class action against Sprint for automatically extending the term of their contract?

I was and employee at Sprint's Bristol call center. Employees are very frustrated by the management at this call center. Great customer service reps are being fired for being below goal on AHT. These reps are always the ones who want to resolve customer's issues instead of passing them off to the next person. These are the kind of people Sprint needs to be #1 in customer service. However, the director of the call center would rather fire a seasoned, experienced and knowledgable rep. And replace (and yes the new hire classes call themselves "The Replacements") with young and inexperienced kids. I guess Mr. Ted Smith thinks that is going to be better for the call center. Meanwhile, employee moral is at its lowest, Mr. Smith wants FCR and IR, but does not want to give the reps time to get the issue resolved. AHT goals are his almighty focus. I was fired recently for not meeting my AHT, but have a stack of KUDOS emails from customers saying I was the best rep they ever had dealt with. For all my former employees, if you want to keep your job, do the bare minimum, don't go above and beyond for your customers and maybe, just maybe you can keep your AHT down. That is the focus not customer service! Don't take my word for it, ask any current employee at that call center. 85% or more of the employees are on some type of anxiety, anti-depressant or both just to function at work under the threats and harassment.
