Sprint loses patent lawsuit over location-based technology
Sprint Nextel can't seem to get any breaks lately. The company lost a patent lawsuit filed by Enovsys LLC over location-based technology. A Los Angeles jury awarded the company damages in the amount of $2.78 million. Enovsys' two patents relate to a privacy system used to protect and manage the disclosure of the precise location of a user's mobile device. Enovsys had charged that Sprint's wireless networks use those patents in managing location-based services.

Sprint didn't use that location based technology before they merged with Nextel. Yet it's the Sprint name that gets smeared with the lawsuit.
