Sprint moves HQ back to Kansas

Tools

In a move to further reduce costs at the struggling carrier, Sprint announced plans to re-center its corporate headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas. Following the 2005 merger with Nextel, the company attempted to run two headquarters and split its executives between the two. The carrier did not disclose how much money it would save as a result of the move, but it did relent potential plans to consolidate the remaining 4,400 employees in the Reston area into fewer buildings. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said the carrier would eliminate some 4,000 jobs and close about one-fifth of its retail locations nationwide.
