Sprint Nextel has started its own venture capital arm, Sprint Ventures, and a big focus of the firm will be mobile security. To date, Sprint Ventures has made a single, undisclosed investment with a plan to start small with around six investments in 2006 and expand its operations in 2007. Other areas of focus for Sprint Ventures will include mobile entertainment, mobile commerce and advertising and fixed/mobile convergence.
