Sprint executive John Garcia resigns

John Garcia, the head of Sprint Nextel's CDMA business, has resigned. The company declined to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding his departure.

Keith Cowan, Sprint's president of strategy and corporate development, will take over Garcia's role while the company looks for a replacement.

Garcia had previously been Sprint's chief marketing officer, senior vice president of product management and development and president of Sprint's failed Pivot joint venture with Comcast, Time Warner and other cable companies. The news comes at a tough time for Sprint, which saw its subscriber base fall to 50.5 million in the third quarter. The company also recently announced a voluntary separation package for some of its employees.

Since taking over as CEO, Dan Hesse has not been opposed to making top management changes. Shortly after his arrival late last year, Sprint saw the exit of CFO Paul Saleh, chief marketing officer Tim Kelly and Mark Angelino, the head of sales and distribution. There is no indication that Hesse had wanted Garcia to leave Sprint.

WOW, even Sprint management is going the way of Sprints customers - leaving for something better.

Finally -- John has not added value to the company in 4 years!!!!!! If you disagree - name a program.....

Everything he touched turned to Cr*p and then they gave him another job...

I don't know who he coned into hiring him --
