Study: Americans' mobile Internet usage taking off

A recent study by the the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project found that Americans' use of the mobile Internet rose sharply from late 2007 to the beginning of 2009. According to the study, which was conducted in April, 56 percent of Americans have at some point used wireless to get online. The study also found that smartphone growth has increased substantially. In December 2007, Pew found that 11 percent of people surveyed had accessed the Internet via their phone the day before; that number stood at 19 percent in April. Additionally, in 2007 24 percent of respondents said they had accessed the mobile Internet at some point, compared with 32 percent in April. Article, report (PDF)
