Sybase acquires C&W MMS hubbing service

In another sign of consolidation in the mobile messaging space, Sybase 365 announced that it has acquired Cable & Wireless' MMS hubbing service and partnered with the firm to get exclusive rights to market and sell mobile data roaming services. Sybase says the deal makes it the largest mobile data, or GRX, provider in the world.  Sybase now has direct relationships with 73 carriers and, through peering agreements, its reach extends to nearly 500 operators.

Sybase has been providing text messaging interoperability since 2006, when it purchased Mobile 365.
