AT&T customers will get BlackBerry Bold first
AT&T customers will be able to get their hands on the BlackBerry Bold, also known as the BlackBerry 9000, in July for $300. Other operators get to sell the device, which squarely looks to compete against the iPhone, months later. T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon customers won't be able to get one until September. Strangely, T-Mobile will offer the device for $50 more than the competition. Maybe there will be some hot contract options with it. And have you noticed that RIM seems to be changing its marketing strategy to compete with the iPhone? This weekend sported lots of BlackBerry television commercials, some in conjunction with Best Buy, while the company recently took a page from Apple to hold a BlackBerry developer conference.

give me a break.. this doesnt look much diff form any other rim device today.
BlackBerry does not need to compete with Apple (Apple is the one dropping it prices like crazy) and has always involved the developer community; having a conference just means it's getting larger.
Apple is not "dropping their prices like crazy". They have just adopted their model to everyone else's where they get the carrier to subsidize some or all of the handset cost so the price to the consumer is more attractive. It is obvious that both companies consider the other to be the competition. Just look at some of the styling features of the Bold: chrome wraparound, killer display, more media offerings. Now look at the Iphone: Syncing capability with MS Exchange, ability to view, manage Office docs, push email, etc. It remains to be seen if the Bold can penetrate the consumer markets where Apple is a leader or if the Iphone can penetrate the business market where RIM is the weapon of choice. This delay will give Apple some early momentum.
