AT&T debuts new unlimited calling plan

AT&T Mobility launched a new unlimited calling feature that will allow it to compete with Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA. The plan, called "A-List with Rollover," allows subscribers to make unlimited calls to and from five domestic numbers at no additional cost. The carrier also said families can have unlimited calling to up to 10 numbers through its "FamilyTalk" plan.

However, similar to offerings from AT&T's rivals, the new features have some caveats. Individual subscribers have to be on a monthly calling of $59.99 or higher to qualify, and families have to be on a FamilyTalk plan of $89.99 per month or higher. AT&T said customers can modify their "A-List" numbers any time online. The new AT&T services will debut Sept. 20.

AT&T is catching up to rivals in the unlimited-calling-to-select-numbers game. Verizon launched a service strikingly similar to Alltel's signature "My Circle" plan in February, as it began to integrate former Alltel customers into its network. Verizon's feature, called "Friends and Family," allows Verizon customers to add five to 10 numbers to a group that they can call without dipping into their monthly allotted minutes.

In addition, T-Mobile since 2006 has been touting its "MyFaves" calling plan, which gives subscribers unlimited calling to five numbers. Interestingly, T-Mobile recently said that it wants to try and expand the service by possibly turning it into a social networking feature.

ok, that seems to be good, but now I have an iphone and i wouldn't qualify cause my plan is the cheaper as I need to pay 30 additional dlrs each month for the data plan, so what about iPhone customers? it would be more expensive for us to get to qualify for this A-List than for a regular AT&T customer! isn't there any way it could be different for us as long as we have to pay more than a regular client?

To AT&T: Stop stealing people. You will lose your business little by little. You may say that you have big profits now. But I'm sure this will change.
Another thing; having customers sign for 2 years is not the way of maintaining customers... you need to give them added value.

IMHO.

I agree with you trinador.. I'm an Iphone customer too and I feel like I'm being ripped off.. if things don't change me and a good part of my family will change to at&t's competitors..

ATT is a big ripoff. I am on an iphone plan but will stop using AtT the minute the phones r available on other netwroks. ATT sucks, the company is a ripoff

Yea...AT&T sucks a nut. They're like using a 56gay modem. "3g" pfft...my ass. Once my iPhone plan is up I'm out!

You pay for the "free calls" one way or another. You get nothing for free - EVER! AT&T is no different (unfortunately) than any other company in the world.
