T-Mobile cuts Samsung GalaxyTab price by $50

T-Mobile USA quietly cut the price of two of its high-profile, Android-powered Samsung devices, the GalaxyTab tablet and the Vibrant smartphone.

Samsung’s GalaxyTab tabletThe nation's No. 4 carrier reduced the price of the GalaxyTab from $400  to $350 with a two-year contract, a month after it went on sale. The Vibrant, introduced this summer, was reduced from $200 to $150 with a two-year contract. The Vibrant is T-Mobile's version of Samsung's Galaxy S smartphone platform.

While such pricing reductions are relatively commonplace, and can reflect a number of factors including clearing space for new inventory, T-Mobile's price cut on the GalaxyTab after just a month of availability could indicate sluggish sales of the gadget.

T-Mobile now offers the nation's cheapest GalaxyTab: Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) and U.S. Cellular sell the tablet for $400 with a two-year contract, while Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) retails the device for $600 with month-to-to-month data pricing and AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) sells the GalaxyTab for $650 with prepaid data pricing.

However, T-Mobile isn't the only operator cutting tablet prices. AT&T's Dell Streak is now priced at $100 with a two-year contract at Best Buy. The Streak went on sale in August for $300 with a two-year contract.
