T-Mobile launches revamped Shadow

T-Mobile USA has launched a revamped version of the Shadow (note: it is not being called the Shadow II), which after Research In Motion's BlackBerry Curve 8900 is probably the most anticipated launch in the recent crop of phones the carrier has put out.

The HTC-manufactured quad-band world phone, which will run on Windows Mobile 6.1 (an upgrade from the previous version's 6.0), has an EDGE data connection. The chief feature of the updated version is that it has unlimited nationwide calling capability via WiFi through T-Mobile's HotSpot Calling program, previously called Hotspot@Home. The phone also features a 2-megapixel camera, a faster processor (260 MHz) and multi-platform instant messaging.

T-Mobile has not set a price yet, but said the phone would be available in T-Mobile stores within the next few weeks. Previous versions of the Shadow ran for $149 with a two-year contract, and sometimes as low as $99 with discounts.
