T-Mobile USA snags BlackBerry Curve with WiFi

Tools

AT&T recently announced the launch of the BlackBerry 8820 with WiFi, now T-Mobile USA has announced that it will offer the BlackBerry 8320, or the BB Curve with WiFi. The design is the same as the original Curve, which runs on AT&T's network, but the new Curve has a broader keyboard. Both AT&T's and T-Mobile's versions have 2 megapixel cameras. T-Mobile is offering the handset for $249.99 with a two-year contract. It comes in either "pale gold" or "titanium." Interesting that there have been a couple of high profile WiFi-enabled phone launches since the 700 MHz debate over open access and open devices. Here's what the handset looks like in pale gold: (click to enlarge)

I purchased the BB Curve from T-Mobile last week. I also bought the "At Home" service which includes a Linksys Router at N/C! Although I am still on a learning curve, (pun intended) with the BB device; its capabilities on a Wi-Fi network have been nothing less than impressive. Call clarity is great and the transition from 802.11 to GSM is not detected at all. It also works great at T-Mobile Hot-Spots. I am hoping ultimately to be able to get rid of 2 land lines if all works out. Reliability of the Wireless Network at home will be the determining factor.
