T-Mobile's $50 unlimited voice plan goes nationwide
T-Mobile USA has begun offering its $50 unlimited voice plan to loyal customers nationwide, less than two weeks after it began trialing the program in San Francisco.
A screenshot from the My T-Mobile website confirms the details of the plan, which offers unlimited calling for $50 per month plus taxes. Additionally, customers can add up four lines to the plan for $40 per month per line, plus taxes. There are some add-on features to the plan such as unlimited data for $25 per month, unlimited BlackBerry data for $35 per month and unlimited messaging for $10 per month that can be added to each line if customers choose to do so.
One important caveat to all of this: customers that want to sign up for the $50 per month unlimited calling plan and all of its add-on features must have been T-Mobile customers for at least 22 months.
A T-Mobile spokeswoman did not confirm the details of the plan or of its rollout, but said the carrier was "offering select customers pricing plans that reward their loyalty to T-Mobile. We are not providing further comment at this time."
The pricing arrangement comes at a crossroads in mobile pricing plans, especially for T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel as they compete for subscribers. In February, Matt Carter, the head of Boost Mobile, Sprint's prepaid unit, said that its $50 per month unlimited voice and data plan, which was introduced in January, was peeling away subscribers from T-Mobile.
In the wake of the Boost move, analysts worried that the unlimited plan would spark a price war with Tier 1 operators. Additionally, in early February Sprint launched a plan aimed at giving perks to its longtime customers.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAA - It is about time that long term customers receive a reward from the their dedication. Though I am not a T-Mobile customer, I think this is great. Let it role to the others.
i am waiting for ATnT to come out with a plan like this, if not m switchin 2 tmobile. Also, ATnT should bring more NOKIAs.
How about you just switch to Metro PCS or Cricket? $50 ulimited voice & Text. By the time you add Text and data to T-Mobile it will cost you $90-$100. Also, there is no way Verizon, AT&T, T-Mbile and Sprint can offer a $50 plan to new customers. It will kill their bottom line. There is something call ACPU or average cost per user and they spend way too much money on their networks and customer service as well as subsidized phones to make a $50 plan economical. Metro and Cricket however do not subsidize phones and have a lower overhead cost. They have some great new phones coming out this year as well.
Tatum Hawkins from Boost Mobile here, thanks for letting me jump in the conversation ...
This limited time offer from T-Mobile is a great deal for those who like being tied to a contract, but for those who want the flexibility of prepaid, Boost Mobile still offers the most value with our unlimited talk, text, Web and walkie-talkie plan for only $50/mo. Compared with MetroPCS and Cricket, their $45/mo unlimited plans really mean up to $53.50 and $62, respectively when you add on over-the-counter fees, roaming charges and telecom taxes. No one wants to pay more than an advertised price. With Boost, $50 means $50.
The T-Mobile offer is merely a retention tool and a promotion, and it’s still a whopping $85 if you want to add text and Web PLUS an extra $3/mo to cover Telecom Taxes and $4.99 each time you want to make a payment or replenish your account.
Plus, who wants to wait 22 months to see savings? Not even all customers who have been with T-Mobile that long (or longer) are qualified for the deal. That’s just wrong. Boost Mobile customers can enjoy superior value TODAY.
I'm out of contract with T-Mobile and called and got switched to this plan within minutes and the best part?! No contract required! I also ported my Mom's line from shitty Sprint and they gave me a $135 credit!! They said each line I port from another carrier they'll give me a $135 credit! P.S. BOOST MOBILE SUCKS!
My mother just told me that she has been with T-Mobile for over 22 months and they are not giving the option to all customers! T-mobile is sending out letters to those they want to choose! T-mobile is also saying that you can't be late on your bill and then there are other qualifications. So please e-mail me any and all details if you were able to get on board with this plan!
ATTENTION Tatum Hawkins from Boost Mobile...
YOU ARE WRONG.
No contract needed. I moved both of our phones to this plan, paid $49.99 for the first phone and $39.99 for the second phone.
How weird is this. I have been with tmobile for about 7years. When I called to ask about this program the operator wouldn't give me details, stated that there would be other promotions and that they only offered this "promotion" to select customers. My friend got it and she has only been with the company for 3years.
Strange....I guess 7years of commitment is not valued!
I was with T-Mobile for the last 3 years, but they seem to have abandoned their get more marketing and philosophy a while ago. At one time they were the best value, but I have switched to Boost and am extremely happy. I have unlimited minutes now, text, and mini-web service - it works out quite well.
I am with Metro and the cost is about same but the network sucks. I will not move to Tmobile, this is great deal.
I have Metro PCS $45 unlimited it includes unlmtd voice, text, web,. I thought this would be great but I am currently having big problems receiving text msgs from any user outside of Metro PCS!!!!
So far I haven't been able to get any help from MetroPCS cust service, or physical store. I am switching to another provider that can provide me with one of the most basic extras TEXT MESSAGING.
metropcs should be big a hole and pulled the dirt in behind themself.

Bit of Advice When calling insist on speaking to someone in the coprate office the operator is tuf to get by but you can get threw her just tell her that if she doesnt transfer you threw your calling the local news ... She will trnasfer you WAY fast
I had been with Aerial, Voice Stream then T-Mobile for years, even though I worked for Sprint. Recently I had to cancel my account due to several months of dropped calls, not receiving messages etc (living in an area that did not have strong signals).
Last week I "finally" got a job and get to move back home. I contacted T-Mobile and they will NOT provide me this plan, why? because I was ONE day short of requesting it be re-instated.
This is loyalty to their faithful customers?
tmobile is great . i just switched to even more plus plan and its lot cheaper than ATnT
