T-Mobile's new unlimited plans inch closer to reality

T-Mobile USA's cheaper unlimited plans are closer to becoming a reality, according to the blog TMoNews, which it said received a press release announcing the new plans.

The blog said the plans will be $79.99 per month for T-Mobile's Even More postpaid customers and $59.99 per month for the company's Even More Plus no-contract subscribers. The release said the plans will be available for a limited time. The long-rumored plans are expected to offer unlimited voice, texting and mobile data usage without overage charges. Subscribers who exceed 2 GB of data usage will have their data speeds throttled until the next billing cycle; the release the blog posted also said that the average T-Mobile smartphone customer uses 1 GB of data per billing cycle.

A T-Mobile spokeswoman declined to confirm the report, saying the company has nothing new to announce.

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) currently charges $99.99 per month for its Simply Everything plan, which includes unlimited voice, texting and data. AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) charges $70 for unlimited voice, $20 for unlimited messaging and $25 for 2 GB of data. Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) offers unlimited voice and texting for $90 and unlimited data on smartphones for $30.

Interestingly, Sprint plans to continue to push its unlimited offerings with a new advertising campaign that centers on its new "All. Together. Now." tagline. Sprint is working to separate itself from the pack by providing unlimited service that is not capped or throttled.
