Ten predictions for the wireless industry

Tools

It's that time of year again, and as always, Fierce will take part in the prognostication for top trends next year and reviews of this year throughout the month of December. Since Converge Digest got the ball rolling early this year, here's a taste of what's to come in the way of hoped for omniscience:

Ten predictions for the cell phone industry in 2007:

  • CD-quality music will be a killer app for mobiles
  • mobile TV use will grow, but not as fast as music use
  • train commuters will be the earliest and fastest mobile TV adopters
  • digital cameras on phones will see less adoption than music phones
  • entry-level market will be the sweet-spot for CD-Quality music apps
  • India will be the fasted growing mobile market for several years
  • simultaneous mobile apps will be crucial
  • ARPU will follow from more feature-rich handsets
  • 3G handsets will be about "perfecting" the connected lifestyle
  • More collaborators will be necessary to survive and thrive in the cell phone market

As always, a lot of old hat.

Wow going WAY out on a limb here! Maybe another great prediction would be "Wireless revenue growth will be dependent on adoption rates for new services..."

Why not predict good universal service..... like dialtone everywhere, no dropped calls and 99.99% call completions.

Music on a phone WILL be a killer ap....eating up battery life and forcing fewer calls.!!

Funny... this post seems to have been lifted from here...

If you click the link at the bottom of this post, and the link at the bottom of the Unwired post you can see that the original author in both cases is Roman Polz.

Agere's Roman Polz is the author of the top ten list. Since he wrote it for Converge Digest we linked to that particular article. Stay tuned for our own Fierce predictions at the end of the month.
