Ting offers daily $300 prize to customers who ditch contracts

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) MVNO Ting said it is declaring May "Dump Your Contract Month" and is encouraging customers to break their long-term cell phone contracts with other wireless carriers. Ting, a non-contract service that is run by Internet domain company Tucows, is raffling up to $300 to subscribers to cover the cost of their early termination fees (most ETFs for smartphones at Tier 1 carriers cost around $350). Every day throughout the month of May, one sweepstakes winner will receive compensation for their ETF. There's a limit of one entry per person per day. Customers have to show Ting the ETF but do not have to sign up for Ting's service if they win, Ken Schafer, executive vice president of products at Tucows, told FierceWireless. Release
