The FCC ruled late last week that TracFone's discounts for low-income consumers could be reimbursed by the government in 10 states and in Washington D.C. because the America Movil subsidiary met eligibility requirements for participation in a federal program for low-income consumers. The federal government will reimburse TracFone for the discounts through the Universal Service Fund. The FCC will allow the company to provide the discounts in New York, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Delaware, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.
