Trend: Is Verizon Wireless gaining on Cingular?

Analysts at Merrill Lynch believe Verizon Wireless is taking market share from US market leader Cingular Wireless. The analysts speculate that Cingular has upset many AT&T Wireless subscribers by charging them an $18 migration fee. The analysts also predict that some Cingular customers are frustrated that their coverage has not yet improved, contrary to Cingular's marketing. Verizon Wireless, meanwhile, has stayed focused on growing its subscriber base and expanding its 3G network.
