Trend: Quadruple play, wireless are big news at CTAM

At the annual meeting of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM), the so-called quadruple play -- wireless, VoIP, broadband, and cable TV in one service bundle -- is the hot topic of discussion. Cable companies are talking about ways to work with wireless carriers to launch Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services. While rumors have been speading that Sprint will sell wireless service to the cable companies, there is no evidence of traction beyond a few limited trials. Cable companies are also eager to add mobile content to their bundles, including mobile video on demand and remote access to digital cable boxes from cell phones.
