Vendors propose alternatives to carriers' data caps

Capping wireless broadband use is a contentious issue to be sure. Operators want to get more paying broadband users (and land the extra revenue from all that data traffic), but they must toe a fine line between encouraging usage and overloading their networks. Meanwhile, subscribers used to unlimited Internet access on wired computers may be confused by wireless broadband plans that have data limits in the fine print.
