Verizon matches Unity with bundle

Tools

Less than two weeks after AT&T unveiled it Unity bundled offering, which includes unlimited calls to both wireline AT&T customers and wireless Cingular subscribers, Verizon Wireless has unveiled a nearly identical offerings called Verizon Double Freedom, Verizon Triple Freedom and Verizon Ultimate Freedom.

  • Verizon Double Freedom. Customers have three options: Verizon's unlimited landline service coupled with high-speed Internet (up to 3 Mbps), with DirecTV service (billed through Verizon), or with an existing Verizon Wireless plan. Each two-service combination is priced from $64.99 to $74.99 a month, depending on service area and which combination is chosen.
  • Verizon Triple Freedom. Customers get Verizon's unlimited landline service coupled with high-speed Internet with a choice of either DirecTV service or an existing Verizon Wireless plan. Priced $94.99 to $104.99.
  • Verizon Ultimate Freedom. All four services priced from $134.99 to $144.99.

These bundled services are sure to prove popular with customers, so you have to wonder how a "landline-less" T-Mobile USA can compete with Unity and Freedom?  For more on the Verizon Freedom bundle:

What the hell is this? Verizon sent out a flyer advertising this same Triple Freedom Bundle. When I called Verizon to sign up for the new plan, the "customer service" rep denied the existence of the advertisement. I faxed a copy of the ad and he said no one at Verizon had any knowledge of such an offer. Who the hell monitors the advertisements of this communications giant. I think the network TV news monikers like CBS, ABC, and NBC need to be aware. The rep was desperate to switch me to a new more expensive plan than I currently have. Does anyone hold the reins of control on the communications business, or do they just amock, trying to prey on the people with limited intellectual resources who can not distinguish between truthful advertising and a cheap come on?

Verizon triple bundle is a mess, they promise you one bill for $94.99, but so far 3 months later after sign up, I am receiving bills from Verizon for $130.00 plus bills from Direct TV for $50.00 that I have to pay, otherwise my Tv will be disconnected and the customer service is not able to explain me, why am I paying almost tripple what I have paid before I signed up. The phone bills looks so confusing and the only explanation from customer service I got is "proration", well how does proration works 3 months later, while overpaying close to $100 a month, who is going to give me my money back? Where is the one bill for $ 94.99? It is all rip off, it's false advertising, how do you protect yourself against this.

triple freedom bundle is fine, it is not false advertisement, you need to be ontop of your bills, the bundle discount will be on page 3 of your bills, it inludes the most basic direct tv package, as well freedom essentials and dsl 3.0. Anything above these basic components will result in additional charges. my phone bill is 46.99 for the voice, 37.99 for the data, and 44.99 for the direct tv, minus the triple freedom bundle discount of 29.98, i get to my targeted price of 99.99 a month + taxes, which equates to about 120

Verizon bungled the bundle for me. I tried to sign up for the Ultimate Freedom package via their website ( all 4 services) and apparently the web page post didn't go through to their servers correctly. In short, the order was botched and even though I spoke with not one but two separate Verizon reps who assured me that the order was complete and would be processed, the order was mysteriously canceled. Since I couldn't find a phone number to track the bundle order, I called Verizon Wireless to see if they could track the wireless service order and they said that my bundle order had been canceled.

The Wireless rep was very apologetic and offered to setup a wireless account for me over the phone which I did. I canceled this order the next day when I found out that I could have received a much better deal had I just ordered the wireless service from the website.

In the end, I feel lucky to have escaped without getting caught in what appears to be a classic "bait and switch" trap. Not to mention the fact that the processing and follow up of these bundle orders is horribly broken. What a comedy of errors !!!

I just received my first bill for the Verizon Triple Freedom bundle: phone, DSL, and DirectTV. It was supposed to be about $110 including taxes. My bill is $177. Unfortunately, I waited to be connected to a rep., but had to hang-up before speaking to someone. I guess I'm not the first with this type of Verizon mess.

About a month ago they gave me a sweet offer. You guys are going to cringe when you hear this one. I received an offer for Verizon double freedom with Verizon fios for 69.99 plus the usual taxes. Wow - what a bargain. Normally, it is 54.99 for Verizon double freedom and 49.99 with a ten dollar discount for fios internet. They billed me one time for this special offer and out of no where the second month my bill changed to over $72.00 and 39.99 respectively for a grand total of 120.00 with the tax. I spoke with an online rep who said they saw the billing error but offered no explanation for the change in the plan. They found an answer after I wrote the PSC for New York state. They said it was a computer glitch. Typical of the big conglomerates or monopolies. You see a bigger company does not necessarily mean better. It can be a nightmare for some.

I have the Triple Freedom bundle with 3 TV's, which should be $110 + tax. Instead, It turned out to be $240, $140 for DSL and Phone, and $100 for DTV. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one.

We just needed cable and internet, and so we were quoted from Verizon over the phone at this being no more than $70 a month, and installation was free. Of course the bill came for $125.95. No explanation from customer service reps except "taxes." What a rip off. We'll cancel.

Verison, as well as Cablevision, false-advertise. IMO, the legislators must stop it. WHen the first year is up on the "triple play" the bill is 155. THis should be stated clearly on EVERY ad (and by now we are awash in these "triple play" ads.) \

The Vrizon triple promises to be 85 if signing up online. This does not indclude settop boxes for Verizon's own FIOS TV. Even before the cost of renting the boxes my proposed cost would be about 108$ ... I did not sign on. Verizon, I have learned is just as bad as Cablevision.

I signed up for the double freedom plan which was to make my wireless free to call my home phone without charging me for any of the minutes, EVERY OTHER MONTH I GET CHARGED FOR THOSE MINUTES. I have to sit on the phone with verizon for 2 hours every time they mess it up again until finally they get tired of listening to me and give in and credit my bill the extra charges, it's a scam and I cannot wait until my verizon contract is up so I can get rid of verizon services from my life all together.

Glad I read this. I was planning on signing up for this. Now I think I have changed my mind.

Thank heaven I read about these nightmares before I tried to get the Ultimate Freedom bundle! I had attempted to acquire it on-line, but the website was anything but transparent about costs of each item. Thanks to those who spoke up.

I just tried to sign up for the bundle packages. At checkout I find that the cost is $10 more than Verizon quotes in the promotions. This is for a receiver "Leasing Fee". Prior to this checkout the receivers are advertised as free. When I ask the Verizon rep about this, he said it was a directv charge. What a joke...Verizon is charging it so they should advertise the fee. Also at checkout your told you many face a $480 equipment fee if you cancel before 24 months, NOT the 12 months orginally advertised. Let's tell the truth in the ads Verison.

Okay here is one for the books! I have the verizon triple freedom package with the 20/5 internet, the phone and extreme HD TV.
Every bill I have gotten from them is different from 153.00-138.00. Some of this is explained by the fact that I ordered the 109.99 special package and you have to pay the installation in three payments! I get a voicemail message that states that verizon has repaired your fios tv. Then I start getting all the movie channels that I did not order! Then I get the bill for 157.00.
So, I call verizon and get some really nasty woman on the other end who cannot explain to me why they changed the terms of my contract! Needless to say Verizon customer service sucks and we pay this outfit with more cash than any other business in the world! Where did cable funding come from? Utility companies the only ones with enough cash to back such an idea!

I had exactly the same triple bundle for 99.99 plus tax. Technician came and tried to install NOT HD for my HD Tv which doesn't make any sense having HD tv but cable tv not HD, my public tv antenna was better deal and for free. I am going to fight with them on monday, let's see what happens, good luck to everybody
